andrea & chris ~ newport, ri wedding

I love the ocean. I’m certain I was meant to live near the water, despite growing up in land-locked South Dakota. With my husband being from Connecticut I have grown very fond of New England, so when our good friends Chris and Andrea decided to get married in Newport, RI, I jumped at the chance to help them plan their destination wedding!

They celebrated with about 100 of their friends and family on a beautiful day along the water on Goat Island. The day featured soft, romantic florals, a rocking dance party and a ridiculously happy couple. Hope these two are enjoying their first anniversary today!

elle & bryce ~ mayowood stone barn wedding

Before I dive into the beauty of my 2016 season, I have a few final special weddings to share from 2015 here on the blog (because it’s better late than never, right?). Elle and Bryce are one of those special couples. Elle is an emergency room doctor and Bryce is a firefighter so they spend their days saving lives, no big deal. They were so sweet and wonderful to work with throughout the planning process. Their priorities were a unique menu (no boring wedding food here!) and memorable design (colorful, botanical garden was the feel), and with our awesome vendor partners we nailed it. Despite her crazy work schedule, the bride DIY’d a lot of the details, including the marquee sign on the dessert table and the adorable mini succulent favors that doubled as escort cards.

Their beautiful wedding is currently featured in the Fall/Winter issue of The Knot Minnesota magazine, so be sure to grab your copy today! It was also featured on Trendy Bride earlier this year.

justine & dave ~ family farm wedding

I have been lucky enough to work on a number of at-home/private property weddings at some amazing properties, and Justine & Dave’s was no exception. Dave’s family farm had the perfect set up for hosting a fantastic wedding day. The ceremony was in the backyard of his parents’ house with a beautiful view of bluff country. Guests then mingled outside in the warm sunshine of the crisp fall day before moving into the tent for dinner and dancing. When the sun went down and the temperature dropped, guests stayed warm both by shaking it on the dance floor and roasting s’mores by the bonfire.

I had so much fun planning this day with Justine and Dave. They were one busy couple – moving several times, building a new house, starting new jobs – all while planning their wedding. It was so great to see the day finally arrive and watch the relaxed smiles on their faces as they were able to just thoroughly enjoy their best day ever! Thanks to Megan Norman (who was so awesome to work with!) for the lovely photos.

laura & gavin ~ rochester art center wedding

I loved working with this sweet couple and their families to plan their summer nuptials this past June. Laura & Gavin wanted a modern look using emerald, silver and white as the color palette – clean and refreshing! Since the bride owns her own horse, it was only fitting that the couple was whisked away after the ceremony by a horse and carriage. We also incorporated horseshoes into several design elements. Such a fun day!

aäna & jeff ~ rochester, mn wedding

Aäna & Jeff were married on what had to be the most perfect Minnesota day last summer. They had initially tossed around the idea of getting married in their current home of Philadelphia and even possibly a destination wedding somewhere in Canada, but when they were offered the private property of friends of Aäna’s parents in her hometown of Rochester, Minnesota, they were smitten. With its riverside ceremony lawn and rustic barn, the Kvenvold River Ranch was the perfect setting for their nuptials.

The couple made sure to incorporate both the bride’s Minnesota background and the groom’s East Coast roots with details throughout the wedding, including a his and hers beer, a custom logo made up of the state of Minnesota with the Philadelphia-famous LOVE image, an awesome bluegrass band, and a late-night Philly cheesesteak station. Aäna’s vision for the flowers was to have it look like an “Alpine meadow exploded in the barn,” and Brianna from Fox & Fern Floral delivered.

The day was filled with personal details and loads of fun, but one of the best memories was the ceremony itself. The bride and groom wrote their own vows and left not a dry eye among the guests.

It was so hard to choose which photos to share – I love them all from Brandon Werth! Here is just a glimpse into this gorgeous day. Don’t forget to check out the incredible film from Sky Blue Weddings at the end!

five most important things to remember during your engagement

Have you heard of The Big Fake Wedding? It’s an awesome alternative to a bridal expo and it’s coming to Minneapolis this week. I’m serving as the lead coordinator for the event and I can’t wait. It’s going to be a great party!

Today I’m sharing what I think are the five most important things for a bride and groom to remember during their engagement over on The Big Fake Wedding blog. Go check it out! And if you haven’t already, be sure to purchase your tickets to Thursday’s event.

jenny & scott ~ pepin, wi wedding

Jenny and Scott were married on a beautiful day in September last year at Villa Bellezza in Pepin, WI. The couple embraced the style of the Tuscan-inspired winery, using wine corks, grapes and grapevines in the details, and locking up love letters with a bottle of wine during the ceremony to open and read on their first anniversary. Ashley Fox provided gorgeous florals in soft shades of peach, pink and lavender (check out the AMAZING head table arrangements!). The “his and hers” dessert table was a huge hit with the guests, particularly the ice cream the couple brought down from Izzy’s Ice Cream in St. Paul!

I had such a great time planning this special day with Jenny & Scott. It was my first military wedding (Scott is in the Air Force) and I enjoyed learning about all of the fun traditions, like the saber arch at the ceremony and the “mess dress” shirts the men wore (see photo below)! Derek Montgomery did an awesome job, as always, capturing the day.

sarah & brian ~ rochester, mn wedding

I’m so excited to share my first real wedding on my new blog! Sarah and Brian were married on a gorgeous spring day in May at Sarah’s family’s home in Rochester. This was truly a family affair! Both families worked for months leading up to the wedding, prepping the property and getting everything ready for the backyard wedding. The centerpieces, food and music were all provided by family. Everyone’s hard work paid off because the day couldn’t have turned out any better!

Enjoy the beautiful photos from Dean Riggott!
