Libby and Douwe were married on a beautiful summer day in June. Their Hutton House wedding design was driven by the location of their engagement – the place that inspired the famous “Waterlilies” painting by Monet. The day was filled with bright, vibrant colors in the flowers, bridesmaid dresses and even the lounge furniture. Given that the couple lives in Amsterdam (Libby is from Minnesota, Douwe is from the Netherlands), they wanted to be sure to incorporate colorful tulips in the floral design.
Since they had family and friends coming in from all over the world, they planned not just a day, but a full week of activities. The international guests enjoyed traditional Minnesota summer activities like a boat tour of Lake Minnetonka and a 4th of July backyard BBQ, while the American guests were treated to a proper European disco at the wedding.
Highly recommend a dance party with your ladies while getting ready.
Libby and Douwe read their vows to each other in private before the ceremony. It was incredibly sweet and really alleviated nerves for the ceremony. Such a great idea!
