I’m continuing my vendor spotlight series with a super talented and super fun floral designer: Christi Poppler at Studio C Floral. I had the pleasure of working with Christi on a wedding inspiration shoot a few years ago, and it’s one of my favorite projects I’ve ever worked on (it was also featured in Minnesota Bride magazine)! Christi’s creativity and out-of-the-box designs really made this shoot stand out (hello FLORAL EYELASHES!). I’m sharing some highlights from that shoot, along with a Q&A Christi did with me. Enjoy!

Q: How long have you been a floral designer? How did you get your start in the wedding industry? 

A: 27 years (WHOA!! That’s scary to put on paper!) I worked in flower shops, at wholesale houses, and freelanced for many years, but really wanted to do it on my own. I wanted the flexibility to set my schedule, work with like-minded people, and create on a big scale!

Q: Do you provide floral design for non-wedding events?

A: We do! In non-COVID times, we do almost as many events as weddings. These could be galas, parties, grand openings, and any other event you can celebrate! We also do a lot of daily deliveries for birthdays, anniversaries, or holidays. 

Q: What is your favorite part about a wedding day? 

A: I love the big reveal when the couple sees their space for the first time. I’m always a little nervous leading up to that moment – did we nail it? Are they going to love it? Is everything perfect? When they look around and see all of the little details that we’d discussed, and the whole space transformed, it’s magical. 

Q: What’s the piece of advice you give most often to your couples who are choosing their wedding flowers/floral design?

A: Don’t focus too much on exact flower choices. After we learn about your style and color palette, we will hand pick the most spectacular blooms for you! Perishable products can be fussy, so when we have the flexibility to use what is most beautiful on a given day, you will get the best results!

Q: What is your favorite flower?

A: It’s like choosing your favorite child! I love them all for very different reasons.

Q: What do you do in your free time?

A: I cook! A lot. I also love reading, so headphones, an audio book, and a glass of wine in the kitchen is my happy place!
