Denae Brennan Events is a boutique full service wedding and event planning firm creating events filled with thoughtful details, refined beauty and joyful experiences.
Inspiration shoots, or styled shoots as they are often called, are a fun way for wedding vendors to flex their creative muscles, without having to work within a client’s parameters. For this spring inspiration shoot, I wanted to create a design to inspire couples planning a spring wedding – the perfect time of year to embrace color! I was lucky enough to have the amazing Märit Williams capture all the beautiful details.
Soft pastels such as blush pink, lavender, peach, and light blue take center stage, creating a dreamy and romantic atmosphere against the perfect blank slate of Urban Daisy, one of my favorite Minneapolis wedding venues. I reached out to Katie at Abloom to create these colorful and lush floral arrangements. The ceremony backdrop perfectly frames the couple, and the floor arrangements from the ceremony were repurposed to the dinner table. I always recommend reusing ceremony floral at the reception wherever possible!
The bride and groom’s attire is a crucial element in any wedding design, and our shoot showcases chic and timeless spring-inspired fashion. The bride’s Tara LaTour dress features playful sleeves with Swiss dot detail, and a sleek bodice for a classic look with a whimsical twist. The masterful Cristina Ziemer styled her hair to perfection and made sure her makeup was understated yet dewy and feminine. For the groom, we went with a classic gray suit from The Black Tux and bright turquoise tie for a pop of color. My favorite detail on our groom is his floral “pocket square” in lieu of a traditional boutonniere. I love how his pocket is bursting with colorful blooms!
I always like to set up a beautiful, detailed tablescape for a styled shoot as inspiration for head tables, guest tables or sweetheart tables. We repurposed some of the ceremony flowers to create a lush arrangement at the front of the table that looks to be growing up from the ground. Because of the ground floral, we kept the tabletop floral simple with sleek glass bud vases filled with delicate blooms, mixed with neutral colored taper candles. The whimsical rattan chargers and lavender velvet linen from BBJ La Tavola were accented by Collected & Co.’s gold and white flatware and lovely whitewashed bentwood chairs.
I wanted a romantic and sophisticated yet colorful stationery suite. Liz at Paper Rock Scissor nailed the vision. The floral motif perfectly complemented the fresh flowers and the color palette just felt like spring.
I wanted to do something a little different for the place card, so we came up with this belly band design to wrap around the napkin. It ties in the floral motif from the invitation suite for cohesiveness.
No celebration is complete without a delectable dessert, so we brought in Hey There Cupcake to create a charming three-tiered wedding cake. This sweet number incorporated dots similar to those on the bride’s sleeves – so fun!
Our spring wedding inspiration shoot encapsulates the magic and romance of the season, with the goal of providing couples with a wealth of ideas to make their own celebration truly special. I hope you found a detail or two to inspire your own spring wedding design. Cheers!
